  • The dog days aren’t over

    7-15th May 2026

    Crossing into Greece wasn’t quite what I expected. Firstly, we were head to toe in waterproofs. Secondly, the border was deserted to the extent that both passport control and customs stopped to have a chat with us. And finally – if we’d followed our plan we wouldn’t be crossing into Greece until much later.

  • Crème de la crème

    1st – 7th May 2026

    The final ascent out of Dubrovnik was again awful – coaches, cars and lorries honked their horns and came hurtling past us with mere inches to spare. They didn’t care and at times it felt like they wanted to teach us a lesson. I was done with it and close to breaking. Fortunately, things were about to get a lot better (and then temporarily worse again for a bit).

  • Considering our options

    There are many ways to cross Croatia. Over the course of just over a week it feels like we have attempted them all, and contended with a few challenges which have made us recalibrate our route.

  • Into the mountains

    13-20th April 2026

    The Alps! Holly had seen the Alps. I hadn’t as I’d been so keen to take her photo coming through the tunnel that l sped through it without looking up in a bid to capture her pic as she emerged. Thankfully, in addition to taking her photo l also captured her expression as she set eyes on the impressive mountains for the first time.
